The Honda Prelude was introduced in Japan on November 24, 1978 and came to America in 1979. It is and has always been a 2 door coupe. According to Honda's standards it is what they would classify as being a sports car. This car is exclusively manufactured in Japan unlike other Honda models such as the Civic and Accord. The first generation of this car went from 1978 to 1982 and it shared the drivetrain with the Honda Accord.

After proving to be a success the car was redesigned and the second generation was released between 1983 and 1987. The third generation was released between 1988 and 1991, the fourth between 1992-1996 and the fifth and most recent release is from 1997 to the present. This car gives drivers the thrill of a high-performance driving machine, yet at an affordable price. The first Prelude was 75HP while today's are 200HP.
