In
the early 1960s the only American sports car was the
Corvette at a price too high for most people. The
Thunderbird was large luxury car (and Ford heard many
complaints about this). At this time the Mustang II
concept car got a lot of attention leading to the
development of the mustang. The Mustang was introduced
in April 1964 and Ford sold 22,000 from the first
television commercials about the automobile.
