The McLaren F1 was introduced in 1993 and has been the most most expensive sports car and the fastest one to date. It was designed as a Formula 1 vehicle and features a 6.0lt. BMW engine that can reach 60mph (97km/h) in 3.1 seconds. This car is the world first road car witha fully carbon fiber monocoque structure, fully active fan-assisted ground effect aerodynamics and a central driving position. All of these features, including the ability to hold 3 people in the car make it revolutionary.

The car's production has now stopped, after only some more than 100 F1s were built. The only way to get one is second hand, but that is extremely hard because most people who own one don't want to part with it. This car can do 0-100 mph in 6.3 seconds. When it was first introduced it cost more then 1 million Us dollars. I'm sure if you wanted to buy one today they would be between one and two million. Because a car like this has had a very limited production run.
